COMMISSIONED FOR CONGREGATION BETH SHALOM OF THE BLUE HILLS • MILTON MASSACHUSETTS

This congregation – formed in the 1940’s – created its new house of worship on a site gifted by the family that operated the first kosher dairy farm in the state. The eastern elevation of large windows looking onto the wooded lot provided a meditative view and constantly changing light that inspired the project’s theme: Divine goodness that daily renews creation.

Three laser-cut metal gates are lined with a rich textile tapestry. Each assembly glides from an upper track to reveal the Torah scrolls.

It was a delight to work with the congregation and architect to create such a meaningful physical focus for their spiritual life.
