mantle honouring a daughter

COMMISSIONED FOR EAST END TEMPLE BY HELENE AND LEONARD SPRING IN MEMORY OF THEIR DAUGHTER LESLEY • NEW YORK NY

COLLABORATION WITH DOROTHY ROSS

The Temple had in its ark four scrolls with woven mantles by Ina Golub.  It was important to integrate with their strong presence, but also to create a refined, outstanding centrepiece: a new scroll, mantles and adornments commissioned to honour the memory of a magnificent woman.

Torah crowns and rimonim usually have bells in order to make a joyful noise when carried through the congregation. Our crown has handcrafted brass bells discretely on the inside.
The myrtle motif on the mantle and breastplate is present because myrtle is traditionally worn by bride and groom, and buried with the dead.
