“serve god with gladness” pulpit covers

1990

COMMISSIONED by holy blossom temple • TORONTO ONTARIO

Expressing the spirit of Psalm 100 are twelve figures, their arms uplifted in joy and praise.  The counterchange between the figures and text creates visual depth and connects with the Torah scrolls seen through the ark grillwork.

In this architecturally traditional sanctuary each of the three reading areas – the Cantor’s, the Torah’s, and the Rabbi’s – are different sizes and materials, and on different planes. The set of pulpit covers is designed to provide a continuous and harmonious storyboard.
