COMMISSIONED FOR RABBI ELYSE FRISHMAN ON THE OCCASION OF HER ORDINATION

Although religious thought in many times and places blame Eve for humanity’s expulsion from Eden, this design expresses a contemporary feminist midrash

Both Adam and Eve are represented as being different, yet a necessary complement to the other.  Eve, on the wearer’s left, is silver or moon-coloured; while Adam, on the right, is gold of the sun.  Both share the primary colours, and both, according to the midrash, accept mutual responsibility.

Materials: wool, cotton, metallic fibres

Techniques: 8-harness Summer and Winter weave
