Shalom floor cloth

1990s – 2000s

AN ONGOING SERIES

Floorcloths or oilcloths originated in eighteenth century Britain as either a cover for or substitute for costly carpets. In North America the designs were sometimes painted directly on floors, but more often they were lined with straw or newspapers to keep out drafts.

Here modern materials combine with a heritage craft to create an extremely durable mat with a message.

Each cloth was custom made to suit the client’s colour palette.
