“rain in due season” prayer shawl

2007

Wedding gift . . . several years late

This tallit is for my husband Paul who teaches environmental studies and is writing a book on Biblical insights about sharing water. The collar section is a quote from the prayer after the Shma in which we pledge to carry out God’s commandments in return for ‘rain in due season’.

The corners are inspired by paintings of Patterson Ewen who shared Paul’s passion for observing weather.
