Torahs and Tablets" Prayer Shawl
Silk crèpe de chine
Hand painted
91 x 183 cm. (36" x 72")
Missy, for her Bat Mitzvah, wanted a tallit with Torah scrolls and tablets of the Law.
Although stylized and simplified, the Torah mantles and adornments are derived from museum research into several historical periods and countries where Jews developed distinctive ritual artforms.
