"Parents and Children" Torah Mantle
Machine appliqué and stencilling
A set of three in related colours
Commissioned for Beth Haminyan, Toronto ON
These were commissioned by three families to honour their parents. A different text on each mantle relates to the theme.
The prominent amulet shape on each mantle relates to an experience I had in Israel: one congregation in Mea Shearim had a row of amulets nailed along the window frame, each commemorating the birth of a first child and signifying the growing strength of the congregation.
