Collection of Ma’yan at the Jewish Community Center, New York NY

This is a response to an invitation to participate in "Miriam's Cups", an exhibition organized by Ma'yan: The Jewish Women's Project. Miriam's Cup is a water vessel placed on the seder table reminding us of the role of women in the Exodus and specifically of Miriam's importance as a source of sustenance and spirit.

On the imaginary assumption that Miriam would have soothed her difficult experiences with many cups of tea throughout 40 years of wan-dering, I sandblasted a camping teapot to reveal symbolic messages. The linen tea-towel, a diary of her (and my) thoughts, is embellished with cross-stitch embroidery in Hebrew and English beginning like a traditional sampler and evolving into a journey to many times and places.
