Family Tree prayer shawl
Silk, many fabrics and ribbons
Appliqué, acrylic paint calligraphy
76 x 191 cm. (36" x 75")
Sean wanted his tallit to represent his commitments to family and environment.
The presentation drawing shows the earth at the bottom, Mom's family tree on the left, and Dad's family on the right. Eighteen gingko leaves carry the names in Hebrew of grandparents and parents. Sean and his siblings are at the centre, linking the two families.
