The idea for this series comes from the experience of wrapping my tallit around my daughter during prayer service, and the awareness that wrapping the mezuzah klaf, teaching our children, and creating spiritual space are related mitzvot.

This ongoing series is inspired by textiles that women create in various parts of the world. Each comes in a cloth bag in keeping with its ethnic tradition, and with the story and a photo of the work which inspired it.

This box is made to hold the powerful, healing anecdotes that are brought to a shiva . Two compartments accommodate written messages, cards, audiotapes, photos and small memorabilia. The hand-crafted tapestry on each box lid is a unique interpretation of the Elizabethan four elements – earth, water, air, fire– which form a cycle helping mourners make a transition between the experiences surrounding death and the reflections which celebrate life.
