Ark Gates, Banner and Torah Mantles for Temple Beth Emeth, Ann Arbor MI
Ark opening: 173 cm wide x 277 high (68" x 109")
Fabric hanging and mantles
Brass gates fabricated by David Hunt
These pieces are part of an ongoing series for a shared church and temple sanctuary. They develop images of light including God's spirit, Shechinah, menorah and references to seven; for example, 7 Biblical species, 7 days of creation, 7 earthly Sephirot. On the door 7 stalks of barley each with 7 seeds functions as an omer calendar.
Although many media and techniques are used, the overall effect is one of lively integration.
